About the Organization
The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is the only legally binding international agreement that addresses land degradation, desertification, and drought. It brings together governments, civil society, and private organizations to promote sustainable land management and combat the devastating impacts of desertification worldwide. The UNCCD’s mission supports achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) by 2030, a goal closely linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Who Can Apply?
- Education: A master’s degree in environmental science, land management, climate policy, or related fields (a PhD can be an added advantage)
- Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant experience in sustainable land management, desertification research, or policy advisory roles
- Technical Skills: Strong research and data analysis skills, familiarity with GIS tools, and expertise in land degradation monitoring
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, cross-cultural collaboration, and project management abilities
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required, while knowledge of other UN languages (such as French or Spanish) is considered a plus
