Key Responsibilities

As a UNHCR Consultant, your responsibilities will vary depending on the specific assignment and area of expertise. Typical tasks include:

  • Conducting research and analysis to support refugee protection and assistance programs.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring field projects.
  • Advising on legal, operational, or technical matters related to displacement and humanitarian response.
  • Preparing reports, policy briefs, and training materials.
  • Collaborating with UN agencies, NGOs, and government counterparts.

Consultants are expected to bring a high level of professionalism, independence, and adaptability to dynamic and complex environments.

Who Can Apply?

UNHCR welcomes applications from qualified professionals with:

  • A university degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, social sciences, international relations, development, public health).
  • At least 2–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of a second UN language such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset).
