IMPORTANT:

Learning areas
As an intern in the Work Group on Skills Policy, Systems and Digitalisation in the SKILLS Branch, you will be exposed to a whole range of areas related to skills development, youth employability and lifelong learning (LLL). The work will entail tasks such as:
• Support the design and implementation of high-level policy guidance documents to support Member States in applying and adapting ILO policy frameworks and international labour standards on skills for employment to their circumstances and integrating skills development into their employment strategies and policies as part of a comprehensive employment framework.
• Assist in comparative analysis of national skills, youth employability and lifelong learning policies and strategies
• Support in carrying out high-quality research products, new tools, methodologies and guidance documents to promote skilling, reskilling and upskilling of youth and workers to enable their smooth transitions (including from school to work, informality to formality and work to work).
• Assist in the work related to digital and green transformation of skills and TVET systems and programmes.
• Support in developing strategies on financing skills development.
• Support the inclusion of persons with disabilities in education, training and employment.
• Support the skills recognition of migrants and refugees.
• Assist in developing communication materials.
• Assist identifying and documenting best practices and lessons learned.
• Participate in workshops and seminars and prepare reports and presentations.
• Assist in other tasks related to the Branch.
• Interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.

Education
First level degree in Economic or Social Sciences, Human Resource Development, Development Studies, International Relations or a similar field.
The candidate must be enrolled at least in a Master’s degree programme or must have completed such a programme no longer than 1 year ago.
Experience
Relevant professional experience in skills and lifelong learning, communication, good knowledge of social media, communication apps, Word, Excel and PPP.
Languages
Proficiency in English. In addition, the candidate having proficiency in at least one of the other official languages of the ILO (French, Spanish) would have an advantage.

• Ability to produce high-quality written materials, including graphically-based PowerPoint presentations as well as text documents.
• Good communication skills and be able to work in a team.

Selection process:
Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HRD), hiring departments will short-list applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected by any department for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster.
If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the hiring department for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, e-mail, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.
Stipend/Financial compensations:
As an intern in Geneva, you will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month from the ILO, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundation). If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive 2450 CHF per month. Your travel to Geneva will be at your own expense. In addition to the amounts referred above, each intern shall receive the amount of CHF45 per month, or the equivalent amount in the currency in which the monthly stipend is paid, which is a contribution from the Office towards the cost of medical insurance to cover the period of the internship.
Qualified candidates from non- and under- represented countries may be eligible for a special fund that provides financial assistance for round-trip airfare (economy class) in addition to the stipend.
