About the Internship
The Programme Support Intern will work under the supervision of UNEP’s Regional Climate Change Coordinator. The role involves providing technical, administrative, and research support to ongoing projects related to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The position focuses on enhancing regional cooperation, supporting policy development, and contributing to environmental sustainability strategies aligned with UNEP’s global priorities.
Interns will be involved in advancing green hydrogen initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean, developing regional carbon market mechanisms, and strengthening ecosystem-based adaptation actions. Other responsibilities may include supporting national adaptation planning processes, collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports and presentations, and assisting with knowledge-sharing activities among regional partners.

Key Responsibilities
- Support research and drafting of reports and communication materials on climate mitigation and adaptation topics.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating climate action projects across participating countries.
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement and inter-agency coordination.
- Support implementation of activities promoting renewable energy and low-carbon development.
- Assist in organizing workshops, conferences, and virtual meetings.
- Provide general administrative support to the Climate Change Unit.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental studies, climate change, international development, economics, engineering, or a related field. Strong research, writing, and data analysis skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and visualization tools is an advantage.
Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in environmental sustainability and a solid understanding of climate change challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
