About the Role

WHO is recruiting a Senior Communications Consultant for a contract of approximately 11 months.

  • Location: Geneva, Switzerland
  • Contract type: External consultant (not a full employment contract) with independent-contractor status
  • Purpose: To support external communications efforts by producing high-quality written content for websites, blogs, and publications, while providing strategic communications advice for key initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a suite of stories and articles for online channels, including capturing stakeholder interviews and project site narratives
  • Provide senior-level advice on communications strategy, especially aligned with major milestones or campaigns
  • Produce additional content across internal and external channels such as blogs, Q&A features, and press releases

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, media studies, or a related field
  • Extensive professional experience (around 15 years or more), including several years at an international level in strategic communications, media engagement, and content production for global audiences
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills, especially the ability to make technical or policy-oriented content accessible to broad audiences
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong command of English (essential); knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
