Role Overview

The Outreach & External Communications Manager will lead all aspects of external communications, including media relations, digital engagement, public campaigns, and brand management. Reporting to the Resource Mobilisation and External Relations Director, the successful candidate will develop and implement communication strategies that strengthen Plan International Indonesia’s reputation, visibility, and influence in the development sector.

This role involves managing a small communications team, ensuring alignment with regional and global communications goals, and maintaining strong relationships with local media, government partners, and donors. The manager will also oversee the production of ethical storytelling materials, ensuring that all content respects child safeguarding principles and reflects the organization’s values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute national external communications strategies that promote Plan Indonesia’s mission and impact.
  • Lead media relations, press releases, and brand campaigns to increase visibility and public awareness.
  • Manage social media platforms, website content, and digital storytelling initiatives.
  • Ensure ethical communications practices, especially when representing children and vulnerable communities.
  • Collaborate with program teams to highlight success stories and demonstrate accountability to partners and donors.
  • Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics, using data to inform future strategies.
  • Represent the organization in strategic partnerships, advocacy events, and campaigns.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with at least 10 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or communications, preferably in the NGO or development sector. A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field is required.

Fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English is essential.
