Role Overview
Interns in this position support the Loss & Damage Unit, which coordinates and carries out the work of the WIM Executive Committee and its five thematic expert groups. The WIM is the UNFCCC’s dedicated mechanism for addressing loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change, particularly in vulnerable countries.
Responsibilities include conducting research and literature reviews to support knowledge products, official documents, and communication materials. Interns help maintain databases, update web resources, and assist in developing communication content. They may also support meetings, events, and other activities organized by the Loss & Damage team, providing hands-on experience in global climate governance.

Internship Conditions
This is a non-paid internship, and interns must cover their own costs for travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. The minimum duration is four months, with a maximum of six months, scheduled flexibly between January 2026 and January 2027 depending on availability and organizational needs. Interns can work remotely or on-site in Bonn, Germany, offering exposure to a major UN hub.
