Role Overview: Project Officer – CPiE
The Project Officer will be stationed in Dibate, part of the Benishangul-Gumuz region, where humanitarian needs continue to rise due to instability and displacement. This position supports an emergency project funded by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), focusing on restoring dignity and ensuring the safety of children in crisis-affected areas.
The Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring child protection activities within internally displaced persons (IDP) sites and surrounding communities. The role requires strong field presence and an ability to turn project plans into effective, real-world interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the implementation of child protection activities across targeted communities and IDP sites.
- Strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms to prevent violence, harmful practices, abuse, and exploitation.
- Ensure that safeguarding standards are applied in all program activities and that children’s safety is prioritized at all times.
- Provide regular project updates, monitoring reports, and progress documentation for internal and donor requirements.
- Conduct training sessions for staff, community volunteers, and local partners on child protection, case management, and emergency response practices.
- Work closely with partners and stakeholders to support child protection case management systems and referral pathways.
- Ensure adherence to ECHO donor guidelines and compliance requirements throughout project implementation.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Child Development, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings.
- Practical experience in case management, child protection programming, and supporting vulnerable children.
- Solid understanding of international child protection standards and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) principles.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, adapt to challenging environments, and manage emergencies effectively.
- Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with donor guidelines, particularly those related to ECHO-funded projects.
