Bringing Global Results to Life

This internship positions a young professional within the Results Reporting Team, reporting directly to the Foresight and Development Results Adviser. The intern’s main mission is to help craft UNFPA’s 2025 Executive Director Annual Report, which outlines how UNFPA has impacted the lives of women, girls, and young people across the world in the core thematic areas of sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, youth empowerment, and population data.

What makes this report especially compelling is that 2025 marks the end of UNFPA’s current strategic plan, making it a pivotal document. The report highlights achievements while also identifying challenges, gaps, and directions for the future.

What the Intern Actually Does

As an intern, your work covers a range of strategic and technical tasks:

  1. Research & Trend Analysis
You will dive into global literature on trends in sexual and reproductive health, rights, and development. Your research helps frame the narrative of where progress is being made — and where more work is needed.
  2. Results Review
Analyzing development outcomes — what UNFPA achieved in 2025 in collaboration with partners — is central. Interns help assess how these results align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  3. Scorecard & Framework Support
Interns assist in creating a scorecard for key development indicators and contribute to updating the integrated results-and-resources framework of UNFPA’s strategic plan.
  4. Quality Assurance
Accuracy matters. The intern reviews data for consistency and correctness across various platforms where the Annual Report will be published.
  5. Baseline & Target Survey Work
The role includes support for baseline-target surveys for UNFPA’s next strategic plan (2026–2029), giving the intern a forward-looking role.
  6. Team Collaboration
This is not a solo role. Interns work closely with the broader team preparing the Annual Report, contributing ideas, feedback, and content.

  • Communicate clearly (written and verbal) for a global audience.
  • Pay attention to detail, think systematically, and can self-organize.
  • Are fluent in English, and comfortable working in decentralized, multicultural teams.

What You’ll Learn

The internship is framed not only as a service opportunity but also a deep learning experience. By the end, interns should have:
