What the Internship Involves

The internship is hosted within the Office of the Vice President for Public Engagement. This dynamic division includes media relations, content creation, digital engagement, brand engagement, and design teams. As an intern, you will support all these functions, making this an excellent role for anyone interested in multi-channel communications.

One of your primary responsibilities will be media monitoring. This includes tracking stories about Oxfam, compiling media mentions, organizing information, and helping maintain a database of journalists. You may also assist the media relations team in responding to journalist inquiries and preparing materials.

The role also includes contributing to public engagement events, such as campaigns, Hunger Banquets, and community outreach initiatives. You will help with logistics, administrative coordination, and content support for these events.

In the digital sphere, you will help monitor social media trends, observe activity around advocacy hashtags, and assist with posting content. You may also support digital community engagement, review website materials, and help ensure consistency across platforms.

An important part of the role involves project management using Oxfam’s tool, Asana. You will assist with tracking tasks, deadlines, and team activities. Additionally, you will support the management of visual and written digital assets through Oxfam’s global asset management system. This includes uploading, tagging, organizing files, and ensuring compliance with ethical storytelling standards.
