About ECW and Its Mission

What the Internship Involves
The internship sits within the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team — a core unit responsible for analysing results, ensuring accountability, and generating evidence for ECW’s global operations. Interns will support the preparation of the Annual Results Report by cleaning datasets, analysing quantitative and qualitative information, reviewing reports from partners, and summarizing key findings.
The role also includes conducting literature reviews and background research on education in emergency contexts. Interns may be assigned country-specific or thematic projects related to crisis-affected children’s learning outcomes. Additionally, they will contribute to building knowledge-management systems, improving databases, organizing information, preparing learning briefs, and supporting the development of internal and external knowledge products.
A unique aspect of this internship is the possibility for interns to take ownership of a small research or analysis project, allowing them to produce a deliverable that strengthens both ECW’s work and their own professional portfolio.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Preferred fields include education, social sciences, statistics, international development, or any discipline with strong analytical components.
Applicants should demonstrate skills in data analysis, including proficiency in Excel. Experience with R, STATA, Power Query, Kobo, or similar tools is considered an asset. Strong writing skills are essential, especially for drafting reports and analytical summaries. English fluency is required, while French or Spanish is an advantage.
ECW also prioritizes applicants who have lived experience in low- or middle-income countries or in crisis-affected settings. This perspective is particularly valuable in shaping evidence and understanding the realities faced by ECW’s target populations.

Working Arrangements and Stipend
The internship is full-time at 35 hours per week for approximately 26 weeks. While remote work is possible, interns must be available to work according to Geneva (CET) working hours. Depending on location, office space may be available in New York or Geneva.
Stipend levels follow UN internship rules. Interns based in New York, Geneva, or Copenhagen typically receive USD 1,700 per month. Those working remotely from other locations receive a proportionate stipend based on UN rates.
Up to five interns will be selected in this recruitment round.
