Key Responsibilities
Selected interns for 2025 UNEP internships—particularly within the UNEP Finance Initiative—will support efforts to scale up climate mitigation initiatives across multiple regions, including Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in planning and organizing engagements with banks, insurers, and asset owners on climate action.
- Conducting regional or country-level analysis to identify gaps in climate transition capabilities.
- Supporting the development of climate transition strategies, training materials, and capacity-building tools.
- Helping deliver climate plans focused on impact analysis, risk management, transition finance, and Paris Alignment.
- Supporting events, workshops, and technical sessions related to financial sector decarbonization.
- Contributing to emissions data maturity analysis and identification of data partners.
- Translating global UNEP FI materials for local contexts.
- Performing administrative tasks and preparing reporting materials.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s final year, Master’s, or Ph.D. program.
- Have recently graduated and begin the internship within one year of graduation.
Academic backgrounds in environmental science, finance, business administration, risk management, international relations, or related fields are preferred. Fluency in English is required, while French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an advantage.
No professional experience is required, but relevant studies are essential.
