Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the global fund dedicated to education in emergencies and protracted crises, has opened a new round of internship positions for its Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team. Hosted by UNICEF, ECW is offering fully remote internships for early-career professionals passionate about advancing education for children affected by crises around the world.

About ECW and Its Mission
ECW is the first global multilateral fund focused exclusively on delivering education to children and youth whose learning has been disrupted by conflict, natural disasters, and prolonged humanitarian emergencies. Established in 2016, the fund channels fast, flexible, and sustainable support to ensure that learners aged 3–18 can access safe, inclusive, and quality education regardless of the challenges around them.
The ECW Secretariat, hosted by UNICEF, oversees funding distribution, program quality, monitoring, evaluation, advocacy, and partnership engagement. Interns play a meaningful role within this Secretariat by helping improve accountability, learning, and evidence-based decision-making across global programs.

Internship Overview
This batch recruitment is designed to bring on five full-time interns to support ECW’s M&E team. The internship runs for five to six months, with expected start dates between February and March 2026. The role is fully remote, although interns must be available to work within Geneva (Central European Time) hours.
Interns will receive a monthly stipend. For those working remotely outside UNICEF headquarters duty stations, the stipend is equivalent to 70% of the local GS-3 Step-1 salary level. For those based in traditional headquarters hubs such as Geneva, New York, or Copenhagen, the stipend is set at USD 1,700 per month.
Key Responsibilities
Selected interns will gain hands-on experience supporting the evaluation and learning processes of one of the world’s most important education-in-emergencies funds. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, coding, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data from ECW-funded programs worldwide.
- Supporting the drafting and quality-assurance of the ECW Annual Results Report.
- Assisting with data management systems, dashboards, and information-tracking tools.
- Contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives, such as learning briefs, webinars, internal presentations, and thematic analyses.
- Supporting the organization of team processes, meetings, and documentation.
- Undertaking a small, supervised project aligned with individual skills and interests.
This internship offers real exposure to humanitarian and development evaluation processes, program reporting, and impact measurement across multiple crisis-affected countries.

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be enrolled in a Master’s program or have graduated within the past three years. Relevant fields include education, international development, social sciences, humanitarian studies, statistics, or related disciplines.
Strong analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in Excel is required, while familiarity with statistical tools such as R, Stata, or Power Query is an advantage. Strong communication and writing skills are important, alongside a demonstrated interest in education in emergencies.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is a valuable asset due to ECW’s multilingual program portfolio.
