A Strategic Role Supporting Global Health Priorities
The Digital Communications Consultant will play a key role in strengthening UNICEF’s digital presence and advancing communication efforts related to child, adolescent, and maternal health. Working under the guidance of senior leadership in the Health Section, the consultant will help translate complex health programming into clear, engaging, and impactful digital content for global audiences.
This consultancy is expected to run for approximately 11 months, offering a unique chance to contribute to UNICEF’s global health agenda while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities and Areas of Impact
The consultant will be responsible for supporting both external communications and internal knowledge management initiatives. Core responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing digital communication strategies aligned with UNICEF’s health priorities
- Creating and managing social media content plans, editorial calendars, and digital campaigns
- Producing multimedia content such as visuals, infographics, and short digital narratives
- Supporting communication efforts around high-level global health events and advocacy moments
- Monitoring digital performance and preparing analytics and engagement reports
- Drafting content for internal and external newsletters related to health programmes
Through these efforts, the consultant will help amplify UNICEF’s voice on critical global health issues and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across digital platforms.
Strengthening Knowledge Management and Collaboration
Beyond public-facing communications, the role also places strong emphasis on internal knowledge sharing. The consultant will support the organization and maintenance of digital knowledge platforms, including internal collaboration tools used by health teams. This work will help improve access to information, strengthen institutional memory, and enhance collaboration across UNICEF’s global health programmes.
Who UNICEF Is Looking For
UNICEF is seeking candidates with a strong blend of academic knowledge and hands-on communications experience. Ideal applicants should have:
- An advanced university degree in Public Health, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field
- At least two years of professional experience in communications, digital media, or public health advocacy
- Proven experience producing and managing social media content for organizations or institutions
- Strong writing, editing, and digital storytelling skills
- Excellent command of English, with French considered an advantage
- Solid computer skills and the ability to analyze data and produce clear reports
Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or development agencies is a strong asset.
