Running from February 11 to August 10, 2026, this full-time internship provides hands-on experience in communications, knowledge management, and digital transformation in social protection systems.

About the Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI)

Launched in 2021, the DCI is part of GIZ’s “Global Alliances for Social Protection” program, co-funded by the European Union. It aims to support countries in developing inclusive and adaptive social protection systems through digital transformation. Key objectives of the DCI include:

  • Facilitating knowledge sharing on digital social protection systems at a global level.
  • Building consensus on technical standards to enable smooth data exchange between digital systems.
  • Supporting countries on their journey toward digital transformation.
  • Providing capacity development and training to improve social protection delivery.

As an intern, you will contribute directly to these efforts, gaining exposure to the intersection of technology, policy, and communications in an international development context.

Your Role and Responsibilities

The communications internship offers a variety of engaging tasks, including:

  • Managing DCI communications platforms, including the website, social media channels, and newsletters.
  • Creating compelling communications products, such as impact stories, videos, flyers, and presentations.
  • Supporting the implementation of the DCI communications strategy.
  • Assisting in the organization of both virtual and in-person events.
  • Contributing to knowledge products and knowledge management on digital social protection.
  • Supporting project management, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and data analytics.
  • Assisting with the editing and layout of reports, studies, and other documents.
  • Providing general administrative and organizational support as needed.

This diverse range of responsibilities ensures that interns gain hands-on experience in digital communications while contributing to meaningful global development projects.

Who Should Apply

GIZ is looking for highly motivated students or recent graduates (within six months) in fields such as digital media, communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism.
