BIOFIN (Biodiversity Finance Initiative) is a global program designed to help countries identify, measure, and close biodiversity financing gaps. Active in up to 132 countries, BIOFIN supports governments in assessing biodiversity expenditures, identifying financial needs, and implementing innovative finance solutions. Its updated 2024 methodology incorporates lessons learned from over a decade of implementation experience.
PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet is a multi-partner initiative that documents and shares practical, replicable solutions for conservation and sustainable development. UNDP co-coordinates PANORAMA’s Protected Areas and 30×30 thematic community. Through collaboration with BIOFIN, PANORAMA highlights biodiversity finance solutions as a critical learning area for conservation practitioners worldwide.
Internship Role and Responsibilities
The intern will be part of the BIOFIN global team, reporting to the BIOFIN Knowledge Management Specialist and the PANORAMA Project Coordinator. The role focuses on supporting knowledge management, research, and communication activities, including:
- Researching, analyzing, and documenting BIOFIN implementation experiences for the PANORAMA platform
- Supporting updates to the BIOFIN Catalogue of Finance Solutions
- Developing an inventory of publications and academic courses referencing BIOFIN
- Contributing to guidance materials and cross-country knowledge products
- Synthesizing research findings into accessible formats
- Assisting with webinars, events, meetings, and documentation
- Supporting communications through blogs, articles, and social media
- Monitoring and analyzing BIOFIN media coverage
- Collaborating with PANORAMA partner organizations

Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Applicants must meet UNDP internship eligibility criteria, including current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, a relevant university degree program. Strong research and writing skills are essential. Experience or knowledge in biodiversity, conservation, finance, communications, or digital media is an asset.
Language requirements include:
