Program Overview
Auto Imports is looking for a skilled Automotive Apprentice Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.
An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. They must also be good communicators to provide advice to customers.
An Auto Mechanic is the backbone of every dealership. They inspect and maintain cars and perform oil changes for their customers to make sure they run smoothly.

Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Keep logs on work and issues
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as auto mechanic
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
- Excellent physical condition
- High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred
- Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus

Auto Imports is a well known auto repair shop in South Edmonton. We are a growing company & we need great people to share our vision, our passion and to join us on the journey. Currently, we are seeking applications for the position of 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Automotive Service Technician.
Our Apprentices are responsible for working closely with the rest of the service team to learn and execute on activities as assigned by the Service Advisor or other Service Technicians.

WHAT IS REQUESTED OF YOU:
- You are in your 3rd or 4th year as an Apprentice Automotive Service Technician.
- You have previous work experience at a mechanic shop / dealer.
- German vehicle experience is an asset but not required.
- You’re not scared of hard work, putting your best foot forward or being a Team player.
- You’re in this to succeed! You’ve got a laser focus and drive for learning
- You have a right positive and no quit attitude.
- You have good mechanical, electrical diagnostic & repair skills.
- High school or equivalent level of education
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems
- Inspect and test mechanical & electrical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Diagnose cause of faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit
- Repair or replace mechanical & electrical units or components.
- Documenting the performed work and writing technical writeups in repair orders.
- Road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components
- Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
