With the aim of supporting the UN’s response to COVID-19, Sida finances the services of various organizations (UNDP, UN Women, UN RCO, WHO) through the UN volunteer program UNV. The initiative enables experienced specialists in statistics, information, and data management to contribute to the response in Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Pakistan, and Zambia.
Sida’s collaboration with UNV enables individuals in Sweden to work for the UN at the country level in the development and humanitarian efforts, thereby contributing to the global development goals and Agenda 2030 work.
By volunteering, United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programs contribute to peace and development worldwide. UNV has 150 employees and almost 7,000 UN volunteers in 130 countries, about 400 of whom are youth volunteers.
UN Volunteers receive basic financial support so that they can live safely in the country in which they serve. The UN is also responsible for travel to and from the mission and some other costs. For more information on terms of employment, read more at UNV Conditions of Service.
The assignment is for one year and may be extended for another year.
