Program Overview
Gifted Hands Health Services is looking for a Nurse Educator to join our team and lead the educational activities and academic nursing program for our current and future nursing students.
A Nurse Educator is a professional who is responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of academic nursing programs at educational institutions and medical facilities.
Nurse Educator responsibilities include teaching nursing students, reviewing educational material, and documenting the progress of students throughout the year.
Ultimately, you will work with nursing students to ensure they receive the training and education they need to excel in their field after graduation.
Responsibilities
- Provide educational leadership to patients and care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established healthcare settings
- Assist patients and caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management
- Collaborate with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula
- Initiate skill development programs within the parameters of established care models
- Provide direct and specialized nursing services to an assigned group of patients within nursing protocols
- Develop patient care plans, incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards
- Educate technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments.
Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Nurse Educator or similar role
- A working knowledge of the theories of education and learning to design curricula
- Current working knowledge of clinical procedures and protocols
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Nurse Educator

Gifted Hands Health Services is currently looking for a part-time Clinical Nurse Educator for our Personal Support and Nursing teams. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of training resources and programs for our community field teams. This includes the ongoing provision of clinical support and expertise regarding current best practices in facility settings. In addition, the Clinical Nurse Educator will play a critical role in managing any compliance concerns or complaints and will work with both the healthcare facility and the nurse to determine a resolution and appropriate follow up.
Responsibilities:
· Supports field staff in providing effective and safe clinical care and service.
· In collaboration with the ghhs management team, evaluate the community team performance through onsite visits and consultation with field staff.
· In combination with the Manager of Human Resources develop, modify, and enhance the orientation program for our community nurses and PSW’s.
· Develop ongoing clinical educational resources following best practices for field staff.
· In partnership with ghhs management team, partake in the compliance or complaint escalation process through investigation and development of learning plans for staff in a timely manner for quick resolution.
· Maintain appropriate documentation and follow up with facilities on any compliance concerns.
Qualifications:
· Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (RN)
· Minimum 3 years of LTC nursing experience, with some hospital preferred
· Working knowledge of the principles of adult education
· Strong problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
· Experience working as a clinical educator is an asset
· Valid Ontario Drivers License
· Current CPR and First Aid certification, Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months), 2 Step TB (within 6 months)
· Updated Immunization Records that include Measles, Rubella and Varicella, and Tuberculosis. Prophylaxis immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly encouraged.
