 About CARE:
CARE Canada helps women and girls in developing countries lift themselves and their families out of poverty and out of the crisis.
We bring people together to end inequality. Not just for one person, but a whole community. Not just for now, but for a lifetime and across generations. We develop solutions with women and girls and their communities to tackle the big issues facing them like climate change, economic empowerment, food security and emergency relief in times of crisis or disaster.

About the role:

CARE Canada is looking for a Humanitarian Program Coordinator for a 1-year contract.

ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

CARE Canada’s Global Programs (GP) unit is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the organization’s global programs in both development and humanitarian assistance, focusing on the injustice of poverty and gender inequality. In humanitarian assistance, CARE Canada is committed to meeting the urgent life-saving needs of women, men, girls, and boys affected by disasters and conflict, consistent with CARE’s humanitarian mandate and the CARE Humanitarian Strategy (2013-2020).

Under the leadership of a Humanitarian Advisor, you will support the quality implementation of a diversified portfolio of humanitarian and nexus projects in line with humanitarian principles and best practices, through guidance and support to country offices around the world, including programmatic, administrative, financial, and contractual elements.

Being the primary point of contact for country office colleagues on their Canadian-funded projects, you will thoughtfully engage with their needs, aligned with our core values and team culture, with the goal of forging strong, trusting relationships. You will help to ensure that humanitarian programs are delivered according to international standards and with a gender in emergencies lens and localization approach embedded, connecting local program teams with sectoral technical guidance and capacity throughout CARE Canada and the CARE Confederation. You will be accountable for ensuring that processes are in place to ensure projects are successful, acting as an advocate for Country Offices within internal dynamics and processes at CARE Canada.

In your role, you will contribute to and lead program development initiatives by supporting Country Offices to develop high-quality concept papers and proposals, under the coordination and leadership of the New Business Development team. And of course, it wouldn’t be a headquarters role without a healthy dose of reporting. You will support Country Offices in the production of high-quality project reporting, including strengthening CO’s knowledge of shifting donor guidelines and requirements.

Because of the nature of the work, demands are fast-paced and unpredictable. To thrive in this job, you will need to be flexible and be willing to both lead and work as part of a close-knit team when needed.

Gender is at the heart of CARE’s mandate, and therefore at the center of everything we do. You must have a strong commitment to gender equality and be keen to learn more about how this fits into the work that we do.
