Program Overview

Framer carpenters construct or repair the framework of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. They determine the dimensions of the framework to be constructed, measure, and cut the required building materials accordingly, and assemble the materials to form the framework.

Prosper Immigration Inc. looking to hire an experienced framing carpenter to construct the framework of buildings and other structures according to construction plans. The framing carpenter’s responsibilities include using plumb bobs and levels to ensure that structures are exactly vertical or horizontal, constructing window and door frames as well as staircases and flooring, and installing temporary supports for structures as required. You should also be able to hang drywall over the completed framework.

To be successful as a framing carpenter, you should be able to interpret blueprints and have sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations. Ultimately, an exceptional framing carpenter should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Framing Carpenter Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping lumber, wood, and other building materials.
  • Attaching building materials using screws, nuts, and bolts.
  • Erecting temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists.
  • Performing repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged or structurally unsound.
  • Analyzing blueprints and drawings to determine the structural dimensions of the framework to be constructed.
  • Analyzing construction plans to identify potential structural problems.
  • Examining building materials to identify any defects.
  • Performing cleanups of job sites by clearing away all carpentry debris and waste.
  • Constructing wooden concrete forms to aid the construction team in erecting various concrete structures.

Framing Carpenter Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s degree in carpentry or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction is advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • The ability to interpret blueprints.
  • The ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Framer Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, drywalling, and concrete duties. Your primary focus will be on constructing and assembling frameworks, walls, roofs, and other structural components using various tools and materials. You will work closely with the project team to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

JOB DUTIES (may include but are not limited to)

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications in Imperial System (not Metric system) to determine
the layout and dimensions of structures.

Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, metal, and other materials according to project requirements.
Build and install frameworks, including walls, floors, roofs, and partitions, using appropriate techniques and tools
like Skill Saw, Table Saw, Miter Saw, Hammer, Air Nailer, Cordless Drill and Impact Driver.

Install windows, doors, and hardware as per specifications.
Perform drywall installation, taping, mudding, and sanding to achieve smooth and finished surfaces.
Carry out concrete work, such as formwork installation, pouring, leveling, and finishing.
Ensure accuracy and adherence to building codes, safety guidelines, and project specifications.
Collaborate with the project team, including architects, engineers, and other carpenters, to ensure smooth
project execution.

Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Adhere to project timelines and adjust work schedules as needed to meet deadlines.
Troubleshoot and resolve construction-related issues and challenges as they arise.
Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Framer Carpenter, with expertise in carpentry, drywalling, and concrete work.

In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety guidelines.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Proficient in using a wide range of carpentry and construction tools.
Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation or willingness to use Public Transportation.
Must have Steel-toed Safety Boots, Tool Belt, Hammer, Tape Measure and Knife.
