Overview of the COP 27 Young Scholar Award

Thank you for your interest in applying to be an India COP 27 Young Scholar!

UNICEF India and UNDP India are proud to offer four Indian youth participants between the ages of 18 and 25 years, an award of USD 3,000 to support their participation at COP27, at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, between Sunday, November 6 and Friday, November 18, 2022.  

To promote equitable representation in the final selection, in addition to considering your experience, we will also be looking at and weighing gender, category of residence, and affiliation with underserved communities as part of the internal decision-making process.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th, 11:59 PM IST! 

Before you initiate the application process, we request that you read the below instructions and details:  

If you are selected to receive this award, you will be expected to adhere to the following conditions:

a) be part of a pre-COP27 orientation,

b) develop a social media schedule during your COP27 attendance,

c) interview with UNICEF and UNDP communication teams and submit information for your profiles,

d) submit at short report after COP27, and e) be part of a de-briefing workshop after COP27.

We expect that you will arrange your own visa, registration, and other required approvals (UNICEF India can support the registration and badge issuance process) for attending COP27 and will be able to show all clearances prior to receiving the award in mid-October 2022. 

You need to meet the eligibility criteria, i.e.,

i) be an Indian youth

ii) in the age group 18-25 years as of 15 October 2022

iii) working on climate solutions

You will be expected to arrange your own flight, boarding and lodging arrangements. You will have to hold an active passport that is valid through May 2023

You will be asked to provide proof for certain responses (e.g. category of residence, affiliation with underserved communities, etc.) if you are shortlisted for the award.

This funding is only distributed for the purpose of using it to subsidize costs incurred for participating in COP27.
