Church of Scotland/Desmond Tutu Masters Scholarships 2022/2023 for African Students

Masters Scholarships 2022/2023: Church of Scotland/Desmond Tutu: The scholarship will be given to an African student who has been accepted into the School of Divinity on a full-time basis for a one-year postgraduate Masters degree and has received official approval from their Church’s General Secretary or Principal Clerk.

The deadline for applications is April 6, 2022.

Countries that are eligible include those in Africa.

Churches that are eligible: A member of a Church of Scotland partner church in Africa must apply for a Church of Scotland/Desmond Tutu Masters Scholarship. The following churches are eligible to be partner churches:

Ghana’s Evangelical Presbyterian Church
Ghana’s Presbyterian Church
East African Presbyterian Church
The Evangelical Church of Egypt’s Synod of the Nile
Central African Church Igreja Evangelica de Cristo Presbyterian de Mocambique
Nigerian Presbyterian Church
South Sudan Presbyterian Church
The United Church of Zambia’s ‘Programme of Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa’
Southern Africa’s Uniting Presbyterian Church
The course will be held at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, United Kingdom.

Master’s program at the School of Divinity is an eligible field of study.

Desmond Tutu and the Church of Scotland

The course will be held at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, United Kingdom.
Master’s program in the School of Divinity about the Church of Scotland/Desmond Tutu Masters Scholarships: This scholarship was established in 2009 to honor the Most Reverend Desmond Tutu’s Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the University.
“Some of our first black physicians were people who had educated here, and there is a long tradition that links this university with our part of the world,” Archbishop Tutu said during the graduation ceremony, referring to the historic links between Africa and the University of Edinburgh.

“Some of our first black physicians were educated here, and there is a long history of collaboration between this university and our region.”

Master’s level

Eligibility:

The scholarship will be given to a student from Africa who is admitted into a full-time postgraduate Masters’s program at the School of Divinity for one year. Shortlisted applicants will need to obtain official approval from their church’s General Secretary or Principal Clerk.
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, with candidates needing a Bachelor’s degree equivalent to a first-class or 2:1 Honours degree in the United Kingdom.
In addition to the following academic credentials, the selection panel will consider applicants’ financial situations to ensure that a student’s financial position does not prevent them from pursuing a university degree.

Masters Scholarships from the Church of Scotland and Desmond Tutu are worth a lot of money.

The scholarship will cover the following expenses:

Fees for full-time study in another country
For living expenses, a Church of Scotland flat in Edinburgh costs £500 per calendar month.
The cost of a visa
one round-trip ticket
Aviva underwrites Church of Scotland corporate travel insurance.
The scholarship is for one academic year.
