Program Overview

Skilled Line Cooks are in charge of prepping food and plating dishes according to a restaurant’s menu specifications. Also known as a Prep Cook, they are assigned a specific place in the line, such as the grill or vegetable prep station. Duties include preparing food and maintaining sanitation standards.

Salad King is on the hunt for an experienced line cook to join our talented team and help prepare meals according to our standard recipes. In this position, your principal goal will be to prepare high-quality meals that meet the chef’s exact specifications.

You will be responsible for setting up the prep station, stocking inventory, and maintaining sanitation standards. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. Ultimately, you will play an essential role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and restaurant growth.

Skilled Line Cook Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the preparation station and the kitchen are set up and stocked.
  • Preparing simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and preparing sauces.
  • Reporting to the executive chef and following instructions.
  • Making sure food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
  • Cleaning prep areas and taking care of leftovers.
  • Stocking inventory and supplies.
  • Cooking menu items with the support of the kitchen staff.

Skilled Line Cook Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certificate in culinary arts or related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.

We are looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic individuals to join our kitchen team as a Line Cook.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cook delicious Thai food consistently. Positions include hot line, wok line, and grill.
  • Prepping ingredients, including making curries, soups, cutting vegetables, etc.
  • Maintaining health and safety standards of the restaurant.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full schedule availability (any day of week, daytime or evening). Limited schedule accommodations may be considered
  • Experience in food service and commercial kitchens preferred
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Must be able to communicate in English. Fluency is not required.
  • Ability to work under periods of extreme pressure in a calm professional manner
  • Must be able to stand and work in a kitchen for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist
  • We offer LMIA support to candidates currently residing and able to work in Canada

REMUNERATION & HOURS:

  • Full-Time position (4 – 5 days per week, 35 – 40 hours a week)
  • Wage: $17.50 – 19.50, excluding tips (based on experience levels)
  • Candidates with First Aid certification and/or a Toronto Public Health recognized Food Safety certification will be entitled to an additional $0.25/hour per certification.
  • Paid meals and breaks are included.
  • Bonus pay-out twice a year, based on business and individual performance.
  • Vacation Pay % based on tenure:

– 4% for 0 – 4 years- 6% for 5 – 9 years- 8% for 10 years+

  • Annual salary review, based on business and individual performance. Typically indexed to the Consumer Price Index.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.50-$19.50 per hour
