UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction and climate change. We support countries’ efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, which will guide global development priorities through 2030. The key 2030 Agenda principle of leaving no one behind and stamping out inequality is at the core of everything we do.
UNDP focuses on helping countries build and share solutions in three main areas:
- Sustainable development
- Democratic governance and peacebuilding
- Climate and disaster resilience
In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights and the empowerment of women, minorities and the poorest and most vulnerable.
INTERNSHIP OFFICE BACKGROUND:
The UNDP, UN Women and UNICEF Joint Programme “Reinforcing equal access to justice for all Palestinians” (2024-2028) aims to enhance access to justice for all Palestinians, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups such as women and children. The programme is designed to address the challenges faced by civil society institutions, including the lack of sustainable funding and increased threats from conservative groups. To achieve this, the joint programme will work to strengthen the legal aid system, promote partnerships between government bodies and civil society organizations (CSOs), and support the development of a people-centered culture that upholds the rule of law and fundamental rights. The joint programme will employ a bottom-up approach to institutionalize legal aid, including the use of digital solutions for case management and the development of coalitions involving the broader legal community. The programme will also focus on building mentoring partnerships between CSOs and grassroots organizations, allowing for capacity development to ensure the inclusion of grassroots organizations in the programme. Additionally, the programme will emphasize the importance of coordination and information sharing among UN projects supporting CSOs, donors, and implementers to avoid overlap in funding priorities and ensure coherence in thematic and geographic focus areas and will also prioritize the utilization of research and knowledge to reinforce partners’ advocacy efforts and build coalitions of CSOs for greater influence and coordination.
