Responsibilities:
- Develop, establish, implement, and evaluate UNDSS standing surge capacity mechanisms.
- Monitor and analyze program development and implementation, identify problems, and initiate corrective actions.
- Develop an effective surge deployment strategy and manage UNDSS standing surge capacity.
- Conduct consulting assignments and assist in developing action plans for managing surge deployments.
- Conduct research, analysis, and workforce planning on surge capacity.
- Coordinate policy development and analysis on standing surge capacity and emergency response.
- Generate survey initiatives and studies related to surge capacity and emergency response.
- Organize and prepare written outputs, including draft background papers, reports, and studies.
- Provide substantive support to consultative meetings and conferences.
- Coordinate outreach activities with the Department of Operational Support.
- Lead or participate in field missions to support rapid response to emergencies.
- Coordinate activities related to budget funding and prepare related documents/reports.
- Perform other duties as required.

- At least two years of experience within the UN Common System or similar international organization, with one year in a conflict, post-conflict, or natural disaster setting.

- Experience in providing programmatic support in a field operation of an international organization.
- Experience in managing partnerships within the UN Common System or similar international organizations is desirable.
- Experience in crisis or emergency response is desirable.
Languages:
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Knowledge of an additional official United Nations language is desirable.
