Duties
Job Description:
The incumbent will contribute to and assist in the development and execution of communication strategies for two projects, ensuring effective communication with external and internal audiences. The following tasks and responsibilities will be undertaken:
- Assist in formulating the communication strategies and communication plans for the two projects, aligning them with the projects’ overall implementation strategies, UNESCO’s communication guidelines, and the requirements of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Adaptation Fund (AF).
- Provide support in designing, planning, and reviewing Terms of References for project promotion and visibility, identifying relevant media partners, and preparing a mailing list of media interested in covering the projects’ activities for long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with the Project Implementation Teams, UNESCO Almaty Office, National Coordinators, and project implementing partners to publish six-monthly newsletters. Additionally, create a mailing list for the newsletters.
- Keep the project websites updated by regularly drafting and uploading news items, human stories, articles, and other content based on project activities and input from the Project Implementation Teams. Propose improvements and further development of the websites.
- Propose a social media strategy and publish posts/stories at least twice a week on the projects’ Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, if available. Provide projects-related content for publishing on UNESCO Almaty accounts.
- Develop, shoot, and edit short videos on project-related topics. This includes working with project documents, recording interviews, collecting and compiling archive records, and providing voiceover. Cooperate with Projects’ National Coordinators in producing short videos.
- Accompany project partners in the field for capturing new footage and photos of the pilot sites as required by the Project Management Unit in Almaty.
- Make proposals for graphic designs for posters and other promotional materials based on project needs.
- Contribute to project communications by preparing concise, user-friendly reports or presentations that demonstrate concrete results achieved. This includes writing and disseminating social media content, providing inputs for various publication materials, assisting in organizing and conducting project events, and preparing news items for websites and social media.
- Undertake any other tasks consistent with the incumbent’s professional qualifications that may be required to successfully perform the assigned work.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Completed higher education degree in mass communication, media studies, journalism, or studies with a specialization in information and communication technology and knowledge society issues.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in communication and information, public advocacy, marketing, PR, website development, social media, or other relevant fields.
