Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned projects by working with key clients.
  2. Monitor and analyze specific aspects of project development and implementation, reviewing relevant documents and reports.
  3. Identify problems and issues, recommend corrective actions, and liaise with relevant parties while tracking follow-up actions.
  4. Conduct basic research on selected aspects of programs, operations, and other activities, including data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  5. Participate in field missions, providing substantive and administrative support and collecting data.
  6. Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including reviewing and analyzing emerging issues and trends.
  7. Undertake outreach activities, contribute to the development of training workshops and seminars, and make presentations on assigned topics/activities.
  8. Coordinate activities related to budget funding, including program/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, and financial statements.
  9. Contribute to data collection, analysis, and identification of trends or patterns, providing insights through data visualization methods for planning, decision-making, and reporting.
  10. Perform other duties as required.

Competencies:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, environmental management, environmental economics, or chemistry. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted. Completion of data analytics, business analytics, or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the chemicals and waste area, including one year in an international environment. Experience in project development, implementation, planning, and reporting is required. Experience with International Chemicals Conventions and Global Environment Facility projects is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related areas, as well as knowledge of agrochemicals, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), or mercury, is desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
