  • Provide policy guidance on conceptual strategy development for the UN Global Compact and oversee the implementation of overall strategies and policies.
  • Plan and oversee the management of activities within the unit, including managing the Front Office staff, Board Relations, and UN Relations.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Head of Entity and oversee the organization of Executive Management Team meetings.
  • Work closely with the Executive Office on various Human Resources matters, budgeting, and office administration.
  • Coordinate diverse projects with other organizations within the United Nations System, including the Four UN Guardians of the UN Global Compact’s principles (OHCHR, ILO, UN Environment, and UNODC), as well as donors and agencies.
  • Manage and supervise the work program of the unit, including coordinating the work carried out by the unit/section and providing substantive reviews of drafts.
  • Contribute to the preparation of position papers and reports for the UN Global Compact Board and the Secretary-General’s Report to the General Assembly.
  • Ensure high-quality standards in the outputs produced by the section, including reports and briefing materials for the Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director.
  • Prepare inputs for the work program of the UN Global Compact, determine priorities, and allocate resources for the timely delivery of outputs.
  • Carry out programmatic and administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Global Compact Office, including budget preparation, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Recruit staff for the office, develop and implement recruitment strategies, and ensure timely filling of posts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage, guide, develop, and train staff under supervision, promoting staff development and providing performance management advice.
  • Foster teamwork and communication among staff within the unit/section and across organizational boundaries, including the Global Compact Regional Hubs and Local Networks.
  • Represent the Organization at inter-agency meetings, seminars, and other events on substantive-related issues.
  • Participate in international, regional, or national meetings, providing programmatic and substantive expertise and engaging in discussions with representatives of other institutions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, management, economics, political science, international relations, law, or a related area. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in administration, human resources management, or corporate sustainability initiatives related to the UN Global Compact.
  • Experience in the private sector and international organizations, such as the United Nations, is required.
  • Experience in developing partnerships between the private sector and the United Nations or similar international organizations is desirable.
  • Experience in office management and administration in the United Nations or a similar international organization is desirable.


  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable
