(1) Human Resources Intern

UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA), HR section is in need of short-term support for managing information, database and online resources.  The section also needs assistance in updating its intranet page and standardizing its regular communication products. 

How can you make a difference?

The overall purpose of this internship is to support the HR section in information and knowledge management (including virtual resources), database construction and utilization, and standardization of communication products.

(2) Internship for Geospatial Risk Analysis, Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS)

The Risk Analysis and Preparedness Section in EMOPS (RAPS) main purpose is to support UNICEF in being ready to meet the CCCs in humanitarian emergencies and thus to contribute to UNICEF’s general ability to assess and adapt to a multitude of risks. RAPS’ aim is to help UNICEF be best prepared and impactful in saving and protecting lives, and in reducing countries’ and populations’ fragilities and children’s vulnerability around the world towards reaching the SDGs. To support this work RAPS is seeking an intern to support its work in geospatial and data-driven risk analysis.

How can you make a difference?

The intern, under the supervision of the Emergency Specialist (Risk Analysis), will be responsible for:

  • Researching datasets related to hazard, exposure and population vulnerability
  • Data mining, cleaning and management (spatial and non-spatial, as needed)
  • Spatial data analysis and visualization, both in relation to contextual risk
  • Quantitative analysis related to contextual risk
  • Preparation of relevant technical documentation
  • Additional tasks as needed

Internship on Advocacy, Partner Recognition & Visibility Public Partnerships Division

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Public Partnerships Specialist in the Public Sector Advocacy & Visibility Hub, the intern will provide support in developing multimedia content for UNICEF and public sector partners’ use on social media, websites, and other digital platforms.

In particular, a successful candidate will learn to:

  • Develop and design simple infographics
  • Develop and design social media assets such as cards, banners, GIFs, short captioned videos, short animations
  • Film, edit and produce short captioned videos (such as ones used on YouTube) using UNICEF provided footage and b-roll and in line with UNICEF standards

Internship: Advocacy/Communications Team, Education Cannot Wait (ECW)

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is the global fund for education in emergencies, hosted and administered by UNICEF, which in just three years has provided emergency education support to +4 million children and youth affected by armed conflicts, forced displacement, natural disasters and protracted crises. ECW has raised well over half a billion dollars during this short period and is working to raise $1.8B by 2021. Under the overall guidance of the Director of Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and the direct supervision of the Chief, Advocacy/Communications, the selected intern(s) will provide professional advocacy and communication support to ECW’s Advocacy & Communications Section, to support the development and implementation of the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Work Plan.

How can you make a difference?

  • Support ECW’s Chief, Advocacy/Communications, and the ECW Advocacy/Communications team in preparing of talking points, presentations, fact sheets, blogs, speeches and advocacy material.
  • Collect, analyze, verify and synthesize information to facilitate advocacy and communication external outreach, development, design and preparation.
  • Prepare inputs and draft Communications and Advocacy material, and review documentation and reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevancy of information.
  • Support ECW global campaigns and major high-level events, with relevant donors, governments and partners, such as the HLPF in July and the UN-GA events in September.
  • Support ECW’s digital platforms in terms of content, monitoring, analytics, including @EduCannotWait on Twitter, and ECW’s website, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, including through use of Canva and Lumen5.
  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned for knowledge development in the area of Advocacy and Communications.
  • Apply innovative approaches and promote good practice to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable Advocacy and Communications approaches.
  • Research, benchmark and report on the best and cutting-edge practices for advocacy, communications and external relations.
