Program Overview

Between September 12 and November 7, applicants may submit Chevening Scholarship or South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP) applications to study in the UK.

Chevening Scholarships are given to people from all walks of life who can prove they have the drive and aptitude to succeed as future leaders and who can articulate how a master’s degree from the UK will enable them to make a difference in their home nation.

In addition to providing complete financial assistance, the fellowship grants recipients access to a wide range of privileged academic, professional, and cultural opportunities while they pursue a master’s degree at one of more than 150 UK universities.

  • Chevening Scholarships awarded to individuals from all backgrounds
  • The scholarship offers full financial support

Journalists in the middle of their careers from South Asian nations such as Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are the target audience for the Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP). The University of Westminster is the fellowship’s host institution.

Additionally, those who are accepted will become a part of a global network that already has more than 55,000 alumni globally including more than 380 alumni from Bangladesh.

“A Chevening Scholarship could be the ideal opportunity for you if you are someone who is passionate about driving change, whether on a local or global scale, if you want to be the best at what you do and if you have the imagination to inspire others,” British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke said.

“A typical scholar does not exist. It doesn’t matter what your age, color, gender, religion, or background is. We’re looking for vigor, curiosity, compassion, and a distinct future vision from you. Why not join our network of Bangladeshi alumni if this describes you?

Our alumni network is bursting with influential people who have had similar experiences to yours. They may provide support, guidance, contacts, and mentoring. After finishing your courses, you ought to feel prepared to start actually changing Bangladesh, she advised.

21 young professionals who were given accolades for this academic year will shortly depart Bangladesh to start master’s programs in the UK for one year.

More than 55,000 professionals have had the chance to advance their careers through Chevening since the program’s inception in 1983.

There are more than 380 Chevening alumni from Bangladesh.

According to the British High Commission in Dhaka, applications must be submitted via the appropriate online application forms at www.chevening.org/apply or www.chevening.org/fellowship/sajp.
