Program Overview

A Boring Mill Operator Operate single- or multiple-spindle drill presses to bore holes so that machining operations can be performed on metal or plastic workpieces. Lay out reference lines and machining locations on work, using layout tools, and applying knowledge of shop math and layout techniques.

Boring Mill Operator oversees the operation of horizontal boring machines, ensuring precision in drilling holes into metal parts. Responsibilities include machine setup, maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

Operate horizontal boring mill machines to produce precision parts according to specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics
Set up and adjust machines and tools for each job
Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to ensure quality
Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
Inspect finished products for accuracy and adherence to specifications
Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment

Requirements:

At least 2 years of experience operating horizontal boring mills
Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Proficiency in measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges
Knowledge of different materials and their machining properties
Familiarity with CNC controls and programming
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on equipment
Attention to detail and accuracy in machining operations
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

BORING MILL OPERATOR

J&C Tool & Die Limited, Windsor Ontario, has immediate openings an experienced Boring Mill Operator full time.

Candidates must have expert knowledge in the setup and machining of plates, weldments and details for tool & die applications. CAM programming is an asset, but not essential to this position.

Tool steels (A2, D2, 4140), aluminum, mild steels; 2D, 3D and 5-axis machining applications; FCS systems; Fanuc Controls.

Work schedules involve days and/or afternoon shifts; overtime.
