Introduction
The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD) is seeking a Junior Project Advisor for Youth and Disarmament to contribute to youth-focused initiatives. The role involves supporting the implementation of General Assembly resolutions on Youth, Disarmament, and Non-proliferation.

x3 Project Advisor positions At The United Nations Office For Disarmament Affairs:
Context:
The assignment contract initially spans two months until December 2023, with plans for a 10-month extension in 2024. The UN Volunteer will support UNRCPD’s work on youth and disarmament, including backing UNODA’s Youth Champions for Disarmament project.
Responsibilities:
- Lead UNRCPD’s Youth-focused Initiatives (75%):
- Organize training activities for the regional cohort of the UN Youth Champions for Disarmament project.
- Develop and disseminate the call for applications, shortlist candidates, and produce social media assets.
- Organize virtual trainings/webinars, regional in-person workshops, and a youth forum in New York.
- Draft Reports and Briefing Materials (10%):
- Contribute to briefing material, background documents, and reports related to project implementation.
- Assist in creating/updating communication materials and tools.
- Support Building and Maintaining Partnerships (10%):
- Maintain contacts with project focal points, UN sectors, and other organizations on coordination matters.
- Assist in mobilizing youth volunteer networks and partnerships for disarmament campaigns.
- Perform Other Related Duties (5%):
- Undertake tasks as required by the Director, Deputy-Director, and/or Programme Coordinators.
Results/Expected Outputs:
- Revitalized and expanded youth engagement on disarmament in Asia and the Pacific.
- Increased visible engagement of youth leaders from the region at global, regional, national, and local levels.
- Consolidation of UNRCPD’s role as a key partner on youth, disarmament, and arms control in the region.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: 18 – 26
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in supporting program implementation, advocacy, capacity development, and working with youth on social sciences, development, and/or peace and security.
- Language: Fluent in English.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in peace, human security, security, disarmament, international relations, political affairs, law, or other social sciences.
