Background
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an inter-governmental organization headquartered in Abu Dhabi, mandated to promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity. IRENA’s mission is to play a leading role in the ongoing transformation of the global energy systems as a centre of excellence for knowledge and innovation, a global voice of renewable energy, a network hub for all stakeholders and a source of advice and support for countries. At present, IRENA has 169 Members (168 States and the European Union) that acceded to its Statute, and 15 additional States in the process of accession and actively engaged.

Objectives of the Internship Assignment
The internship post is located remotely, with close coordination with he Human Resources Unit within the Administration and Management Services Division. The intern will provide support to the work of the human resources management functions, particularly in the development of Consultant Roster at IRENA SharePoint site.
Particular Functions
Under the supervision of the Chief of Human Resources, and within delegated authority of day-to-day guidance of the Human Resources Officer and/or the Associate Human Resources Officer, the intern is expected to perform a range of technical and organisational functions, including but not limited to:
- Develop Consultant Roster SharePoint sites and other websites, in collaboration with ICT. This support will include some or all the following: data analysis, permissions management, content development and review, form building, page design, and construction, user acceptance testing, quality testing, and internal customer interactions.
- Transfer information from Consultant Database into Consultant Roster, as per requested information.
- Communicate with relevant division to gather additional information, and documents
- Ensure all data is error-free, backed up, and stored safely
- Identify and solve any data entry-related issue
- Maintain and update the database and regularly eliminate duplicate data during the trial period
- Perform other duties as required.
- Propose effective solutions to enhance the usability of the SharePoint Site.
- Design logical and appealing user interface to site content.
- Review and implement site change requests.
- Support teams in creating content in form of articles, newsletters or email communications based on data collected through HR Events, upcoming product launch, and workshopss
Learning Areas
During the internship period, the successful applicant will develop an understanding of the HR processes relative to roster development, skills relating to planning and organizing information on SharePoint, and further develop research and analytical skills.
Timeframe
The internship is for three months commencing As soon as possible. The exact period will be determined based on the availability of the intern and the needs of the programme.
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a Master’s or doctorate programme at a recognized university at the time of application and for the duration of the internship. Recent graduates will also be included in the internship programme provided the start date of the internship is less than six months from the completion of studies.
- Preference is given to candidates studying in the fields of data analytics, Information Technology, or Human Resources
- Candidates must be fluent in English (both oral and written) and demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.
- Competencies: Candidates should demonstrate solid teamwork, planning and organizing, professionalism and communications skills.
- Candidates must be able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Candidates should indicate in their cover letter the period of availability.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications, and savvy to navigate in SharePoint.
Internship Conditions
IRENA internships may be remunerated if an intern is not already sponsored by their government, university or institution. If they are sponsored, the intern is requested to indicate their sponsorship in their cover letter.
IRENA interns are not considered to be staff members. The selected intern will work on a full-time basis (40 hours per week) remotely as per the working hours in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
