We are actively recruiting for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to supervise operations at our restaurant. As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, your duties will include scheduling shifts, balancing cash registers, and overseeing payroll. You should also address customers’ complaints and queries in a swift, courteous manner.

Assistant Restaurant Manager Duties

  • Past supervisory experience, preferably within a restaurant.
  • Prior experience using payroll software.
  • Intermediate accounting and arithmetic skills.

  • Innovative, trustworthy, and impartial.

Assistant Restaurant Manager Requirements

  • Opening and closing the restaurant.

SSP Canada operates several restaurants throughout the Ottawa International Airport, including: Darcy McGees, Cork & Well, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Cafe En Vin.

Here are a few things you can expect as the Assistant Restaurant Manager:

  • Recruits, trains, develops and communicates with team of Food Travel Experts Implements and maintains guest service standards and/or brand specifications.
  • Maintains all merchandising standards, display presentations and signing standards and monitors inventory levels.
  • Develops, plans and assigns daily goals, tasks and Team Member assignments.
  • Manages, supervises and evaluates Team Member performance through follow-up to ensure proper completion of assigned tasks and goals and provides feedback including disciplinary action.
  • Assists in monitoring sales performance through the analysis of sales reports and comparison shopping.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, as well as provincial health/sanitation standards.
  • Manages all office tasks, including management of funds, receiving, inventory, purchasing, team member scheduling and payroll.
  • All other assigned tasks.

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the food & beverage industry, in a management capacity
  • Full Service restaurant experience preferred
  • Experience within the airport environment preferred
  • Union experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to effectively manage conflict and ensure successful outcomes; work under pressure and deal with high stress situations while exercising sound judgment and decision making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Effective organizational maturity to prioritize daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activities
