Plan International Pacific is seeking to hire a full time WASH Project Coordinator who will be responsible for leading the implementation of the EU funded South Bougainville WASH Programme, which is a part of Plan’s growing portfolio of EU funded projects in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (ARoB). This project is in consortium with World Vision PNG, who are the consortium lead. The individual will work on this project on a full-time basis and will be specifically responsible for coordinating and implementing the South Bougainville WASH Programme’s activities in South Bougainville as well as providing leadership and oversight of the two WASH Officers who will also be directly working on the project. The role will be based in Arawa Bougainville, PNG.

Do you have what it takes to be successful in this role?

  • Experience in a project implementation team delivering a complex project, particularly related to WASH.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in coordinating, training, facilitating and capacity building of organizational staff, partners and community members and/or community- based organizations.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WASH programs.
  • Relevant experience in the design and construction supervision of WASH infrastructure facilities in schools, health facilities and communities
  • Experience within WASH methodologies such as Community-led Total Sanitation, Water Safety Planning, UNICEF 3-Star School standards, WASH in Schools and WASH Construction.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce succinct written reports in English.
  • Ability to be organized and self-motivated to adapt and adjust to implement activities effectively within changing power dynamics and community priorities.
  • Openness and enthusiasm for learning the new tools and approaches, and then being able to facilitate the learning of others in the Project tools.
  • Openness to continual self-reflection and learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and social analysis and influencing skills specific to cultural and political context of Bougainville/PNG.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team and with upper management
  • Knowledge of the use of word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines
  • Previous work experience in Bougainville or can relocate to AROB in Arawa
