Program Overview

Rock truck drivers operate heavy-duty trucks for transporting rocks and minerals in Mainline mining or construction sites. Responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, load securing, and adhering to safety protocols.

A Rock Truck Driver transports paving materials, construction supplies, dirt, and garbage to and from various locations. The drive trucks are well equipped with open beds that allow the transportation of dirt, rocks, sand, gravel, and coal.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maneuver heavy-duty rock truck in a safe and efficient manner
• Transport materials such as rock, dirt, and debris from one location to another
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections on the vehicle and report any issues or defects
• Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving the truck
• Communicate effectively with other team members on the job site
• Ensure the truck is loaded to proper capacity and distribute the weight of materials evenly
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around the truck
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Requirements:

• Valid and up-to-date Class A or B commercial driver’s license
• Proven experience as a rock truck driver
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Excellent physical condition and hand-eye coordination
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible schedule and ability to work long hours if needed
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures
• Familiarity with GPS and other tracking devices is a plus

Mainline Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Rock Truck Operator. The Rock Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of packer equipment and must be familiar with aspects of road construction and the compaction of soil and granular material.

General Responsibilities:

• Operate a Rock Truck and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, maintaining proper awareness of ones’ surroundings while operating the truck on public roadways.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
• Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and reports any maintenance concerns with the equipment.
• Have truck loaded, check for oversized material, and bring to the proper stockpile.
• Understand ground disturbance challenges while operating the truck.
• Coordinates truck activities with the excavator and other truck operators.
• Operator other heavy equipment and perform other construction related duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred.
• Possess 1 + years of experience.
• Class 5 driver’s license, clean abstract.
• Follow directions from Foreman/Supervisor.
• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Carry out minor maintenance and inspection of equipment and reporting any deficiencies.
• Ability to work as a team and take direction.
• Perform other related duties as required.
