Program Overview
Most Dairy Milkers have buildings called milking parlors, where their cows go to be milked two to three times a day, depending on the farm. The farmer’s employees will use these milking machines or “milkers” to milk the cow, which only takes five to seven minutes on average per cow.
MILKER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Milk cows, treat sick cows, clean stalls/barns, tend calves, and assist with calf births.
- Perform tasks such as feeding, medicating, washing, breeding, farrowing, and processing the pigs.
- Power wash the milk room when finish milking, shovele the barns, and fed the calves and cows.
- Assist farrowing sows through birth, sort pigs by size and by the amount of pigs she can nurse.
- Implement vaccination and calf identification program.
- Execute proper milking techniques and management practices every milking session.
- Develop and execute nutrient management plan.

About us
We have a dairy farm Central Alberta and looking for a milker for our farm. Mornings start at 4 AM, Afternoons 3.30 PM. Shifts can be double shifts or 1 shift per day. Schedule fairly flexible. We do not have a LMIA – so please do not apply if you do not live in Canada.
Job Description
Ijtsma Farms Ltd. is looking for an employee to join our team in Beiseker, AB. The Milker will be responsible for the following:
- Milk Cows
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance tasks on assigned areas of the facility.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and tools to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow procedures for maintaining equipment and ensuring the facility is operating in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
- Must be able to follow all procedures.
Additional Information:
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment (non-climate) environment (non-climate). Environment that does not require wearing of a protective mask or gown. Can be hot or cold. Must be able to follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks being completed at one time.
- Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers, supervisors, and managers. Must have good verbal skills and ability to read and write English accurately. Must have good physical fitness and stamina to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for long periods of time, bending squatting walking as needed, carrying objects up to 25 lbs., etc..
