Background

World Health Organization (WHO) is scaling up implementation of activities in the Gaza Strip under WHE program including those related to the trauma and emergency program with the objective of increasing emergency preparedness and response capacity for a number of health partners including at the community level.

This position will be collecting data, coordinate activities for WHO, help in monitoring of activities, and directly follow up with site hospitals and partner to make sure visibility requirements are adhered to.

Purpose of the Position:

The Field Information Officer will support WHE program including trauma and emergency care in implementing activities in Gaza strip by following up on activities implementation, collect field data and perform regular site visits to partners. The purpose of this position is to strengthen WHO links with partners, monitor progress on implementation and collect data from the field.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following duties: 

Output 1: Report on data collected as requested by WHO.

Activity 1.1:  Collect and report data (trauma and health emergency interventions) on regular basis from key health partners and service providers in Gaza Strip.

Activity 1.2:  Draft summary report that includes tabular representation.

Activity 1.3: Develop analysis and aggregated monthly reports from the collected data

Activity 1.4: facilitate and compile data for donor reports

Output 2: Coordination and monitoring:

Activity 2.1: Contribute to the development of monitoring and evaluation plans per each partner

Activity 2.2: Conduct field visits to monitor and evaluate the implementation of WHO’s activities for community support, prehospital and hospital services. The visits will be for partners and beneficiaries in Gaza Strip.

Activity 2.2 : Conduct an assessment of the utilization of project assets via the use of appropriate checklists (by developing a checklist)

Activity 2.3 : Submit a monitoring report following each monitoring visit.

Activity 2.4: Coordinate between WHO procurement department and the partners for verification of needs, compilation of needs, delivery of commodities and utilization.

Activity 2.5: develop and maintain tracking sheets for assets donated by partner.

Output 3: Adherence to donor visibility requirements

Activity 3.1: Coordinate WHO, partners and donors media events preparation in collaboration with WHO communications team.

Activity 3.2: Follow up with partners to ensure WHO’s and donors’ visibility requirements on in-kind donations and during the implementation of activities is adhered to.

Deliverable

Deliverable 1: Data collection reports on WHE activities from the designated hospitals/partners.

Required Skills and Experience

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Essential: First degree in health-related field with focus on public health management and monitoring and evaluation 

Desirable: Advanced training on monitoring & evaluation and analysis of health related data.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

• At least 1 year of experience in monitoring and evaluation of health projects

• Experience in working with health partners in Gaza Strip.

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Microsoft Office

• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural settings and excellent inter-personal skills.

• Very good reporting skills 

• Team player

• Very Good communication skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Essential: Expert knowledge of English, and Arabic.

Desirable: other UN language.
